2026 Manly Warringah Sea Eagles: ANZAC Jersey
Some jerseys are made to be worn. Others are made to be remembered. The 2026 Manly Warringah ANZAC Jersey is both.
This year, the Sea Eagles mark their 80th season in rugby league, a milestone that deserves more than a logo on a collar. The club has chosen to honour it by looking back to a man whose story connects the Northern Beaches, the skies over wartime Europe, and the Club all together.
The Man Behind the Jersey
Malcolm "Mac" Campbell was born in Harbord in 1924. He grew up on the Northern Beaches, attended Manly Boys High, and enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force in December 1941 at just seventeen years old. He was too young to sign the Oath of Allegiance, but not too young to begin training.
By late 1943 he was qualified as both a wireless operator and air gunner. He was posted to No. 463 Squadron RAAF in Britain, flying Avro Lancaster bombers out of RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire. Over the final winter of the war, Campbell flew 21 missions over Germany and Poland, to Dresden, Dortmund, the Urft Dam and beyond.
He came home in 1946. A year later, Manly Warringah entered the NSWRL competition for the first time. Mac Campbell became Sea Eagle number 3, debuting in the club's inaugural premiership side and scoring two tries across six appearances at centre.
In the decades that followed, he remained a cornerstone of Northern Beaches life. He helped run the family store in Harbord, served as a life member of Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club, and spent over a decade as president of the Harbord Diggers Club. He was also, as many fans will know, the grandfather of club legend Steve Menzies. Campbell passed away in 2000 at the age of 76.
The Design
Every detail of the 2026 ANZAC Jersey has been considered with intention.
The Lancaster bomber's distinctive wartime camouflage, the same aircraft that carried Mac through his 21 missions with No. 463 Squadron is printed across the chest, back, and sleeves, rendered in a combination of Manly Maroon and Lancaster green that makes the collar and sleeves truly pop.
Mac's legacy is honoured on the inner collar alongside his 463 Squadron tag, with the Press On Regardless running across the posterior collar. A saying that captured the spirit of every crew that climbed aboard a Lancaster and flew into the unknown.
The woven collar features the club's 80th year logo on the front, and on the back, the original Manly Warringah R.L.F.C. crest from the club's inaugural 1947 NSWRL season the exact crest Mac wore proudly as Sea Eagle #3, a lasting tribute to the man and the moment that started it all.
80 Years of Sea Eagles
The 2026 season marks eight decades of Manly Warringah in the top grade. It's a history built on tough players, passionate supporters, and a community that has always shown up. This jersey connects that modern identity back to its very roots, to the men who built the club, and in Mac's case, to those who served before they ever pulled on the jersey.
ANZAC Day in rugby league has always carried weight. This year, for Sea Eagles supporters, it carries a name.
