The 2026 North Queensland Cowboys Defence Jersey: The Garrison City

The Story

Townsville is a garrison city. Home to some of Australia's most capable military formations, the city's identity is inseparable from the men and women who serve here. 3 Brigade (Armoured) and 16 Brigade (Aviation) both headquarters in Townsville, alongside 2 Brigade (Medical), 11 Brigade (Reserve) and 17 Brigade (Sustainment). Five formations representing the full spectrum of Australia's land defence capability. This jersey acknowledges that relationship with the respect it deserves.

The Design

Every detail has been considered with purpose. Front and back imagery unites a tank, breaching vehicle, helicopter and soldiers. Highlighting the different teams working side by side. The right sleeve carries the words that tie it all together: "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" a celebration of teamwork, comradeship and shared purpose. The Australian Army's iconic Rising Sun badge anchors the back of the collar, alongside the quietly woven insignia of all five Townsville-based Army Brigades. A single poppy sits delicately on the collar, an understated tribute to remembrance, woven in with respect.

What It Means

At the heart of this jersey is an idea that resonates far beyond the battlefield. The Army's combined arms principle, armour, infantry, engineers, artillery and aviation working in synchronised precision. The whole is always greater than the sum of its parts. It's a philosophy that translates naturally to elite rugby league, and one the Cowboys have built their culture around. This jersey is for the Townsville community, for Cowboys supporters, and for everyone who has ever served. A reminder that when the right people line up together, anything is possible.
