Healing Hands For Titans Indigenous Round
Connection with community, passion, support and togetherness were the inspiration for the artwork “Healing” which was produced by Coffs Harbour artist Laura Pitt and will feature on the Gold Coast Titans 2020 Indigenous jersey.
Following a national competition which called on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from around the country to submit entries, Laura’s creation was judged the winner from a long list of quality finalists and a popular choice for this year’s indigenous jersey being produced by the clubs official on and off field apparel partner Dynasty Sport.
Entries were required to feature the Gold Coast Titans colours of sea, sand and sky to tell a story about the club and its connection to the region and community.
The Blue circles in the middle and accompanying symbols on the outside represent the Titans community, while passion is represented through the intricate dots surrounding the players and supporters with links of the blue and ochre lines which merge together as one. The Handprints and blue and white waterholes surrounding the area represent connection to the land, while the blue and yellow healing leaves represent the resilience of the team that play together and heal together.
“I love football, I am a big football fan,” Laura said. “I love to follow it, and I wanted to be able to interpret my life story into the artwork to go onto the jersey, because it is a really big thing – especially for the indigenous players at the club. “I was just inspired by my culture. I paint all the time, I have since I was a little kid”
The Gold Coast Titans will wear the Healing jersey during the NRL’s indigenous round during their clash against the defending Premiers the Sydney Roosters on the 1st of August, and again in round 18 on the 12th of September Against the Brisbane Broncos.
Dynasty Sport Managing Director Tyler Rakich saying the Titans jersey designed absolutely captured the clubs commitment to community.
“We were really impressed by Laura’s winning design which really pops in colour and very much captures the Titans commitment to community. It’s a fantastic addition to the 2020 Dynasty Sport range and we are very confident demand will be high for a jersey which features the clubs foundation colour scheme.” Rakich said.
With a strictly limited number of jerseys available, the Titans 2020 Indigenous Jersey is available with shipping from the last week of July, 2020.
